What is a soy candle? What's in these?

Soy wax is a vegetable-based (this means it's vegan!) candle wax that looks and feels much like vegetable oil when heated. It has a low melting point and holds fragrance very well, so it is a popular choice among candlemakers. Storebought candles, even when labeled "soy," are often actually a blend of soy wax and paraffin or beeswax, both of which can produce toxic smoke and burn quickly. Pure soy wax is clean-burning, meaning that it does not put soot, ash, or harsh chemicals into the air when it is burned. You'll notice that there is no black smoke when you blow out a soy candle the way that there can be with paraffin or other kinds of waxes. Eden's Glow candles are made with high-quality soy wax designed to adhere to containers, braided and waxed wicks (meaning they're prepped to be surrounded by hot liquid), and non-toxic oil blends. We hand-mix the scents using a variety of prepackaged oils. You shouldn't eat or test the wax (especially when hot!) on your skin, but it is super safe and easy to clean up if it spills, drips, or rubs onto you.

How long can I burn these candles?

Candles should be burned for no more than 4 hours at a time and can burn up to 40 hours depending on size.

My candle doesn't look right. What's wrong with it?! 

Candles can look different from the way that they are pictured on the site for a few reasons. These are the most common:

  • Frosting - Soy wax is a plant-based, vegetable wax. This means that temperature and handling can cause it to form a light white coating on some or all of its surface, especially when the wax is dyed. We do our very best to avoid this during the production process by pouring the melted wax at lower temps, cooling it slowly and evenly, etc. But it can still happen while the candle is in transit to you or after you've placed it in your home. No worries. Burning the candle causes the top layer of wax to melt and re-harden, so the frosting may disappear on its own. If it doesn't and you'd like to remove the frosting, you can take a blow dryer on low, warm heat and reheat the top layer gently to melt and re-harden it without frost.
  • Cracking - Cracking, dipping, sinkholes, or any other kind of cosmetic damage to the candle wax or metal tin is likely the result of improper package handling while the candle was in transit to you. Again, we do everything possible to prevent this by packaging candles securely and cushioning their parcels, but it can still happen from the postal carrier. Please contact us if it does. We will request pictures, and we can issue a replacement or a refund for your inconvenience.

When will items be restocked?

We have increased product drops since spring 2020 after great demand resulting from promotion by influencer Tabitha Brown and entertainer Janelle Monae.

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will restock every 2-3 weeks as we are able to stock supplies and ship. Delays are possible and expected, especially from postal carriers. Restocks are announced in advance on our Instagram account and via our email list.

I have an allergy! Will the candles affect me?

We use high quality soy wax, essential oils, and dried flowers in hopes that most, if not, all customers can enjoy our products. But if you have concerns please talk with a medical professional before purchasing or burning our candles.

When will my order arrive?

Orders are shipped within 1-3 business days of purchase and will arrive within 2-3 days via standard or USPS priority shipping or UPS ground shipping. Holidays and weekends may cause longer or delayed arrival times, and UPS is our preferred carrier for safe, quick delivery during busy seasons.

How do returns and refunds work?

Returns are not allowed for safety reasons, but replacements can be arranged within 10 days of purchase if items arrive damaged. Refunds can be arranged if replacements are not suitable.
